Leading Technologies in Laser Tattoo Removal
Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting is the premier choice for laser tattoo removal in the tri-county area. We are the only dermatology group with the cutting-edge Discovery Pico laser that combines two effective laser tattoo removal technologies, Q-Switched and Pico, into one amazing device. Our laser can target tattoos of any color, at any skin depth. By taking advantage of two different laser actions in one simple treatment, your tattoos can be erased faster and more effectively than ever before.
How does it work?
Laser tattoo removal works by targeting tattoo pigments with laser energy and quickly pulsing energy into the skin that triggers the release of those pigments. The pigments are then naturally reabsorbed by the skin and disposed of by the body. This is an effective, non-invasive method for removing tattoos and other unwanted skin issues without scarring, since the laser only focuses on pigment, rather than surrounding areas of the skin. As a result, patients only experience a few hours of pink, sensitive skin after treatment.
What makes us different
Not all tattoo removal devices are created equally. We are proud to offer the absolute best laser tattoo removal device on the market that is FDA-approved for laser treatment of pigment. For most lasers, the colors of your tattoo will determine how effectively it can be faded or removed. This is because not all tattoo removal devices have the wavelengths that can target the full spectrum of pigment colors. In fact, removing light blue and green pigments are notoriously difficult. Our Discovery Pico laser can effectively treat all tattoo colors and do so precisely and evenly—reducing the discomfort and recovery time often associated with laser tattoo removal. Importantly, this laser meets every patient’s needs by conjugating high fragmentation power for very effective treatment of tattoos and pigmentations with fractional picosecond power for unparalleled results in acne scars and wrinkle treatments. The expert skill levels of the board-certified dermatologists at Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting, combined with the Discovery Pico laser can result in the best possible laser tattoo removal or skin resurfacing outcome with the best possible experience.
The science behind it all
Our Discovery Pico laser is the first “second generation” picosecond Nd:YAG laser for tattoo removal, pigmented lesions, acne scars and wrinkles. A picosecond is one trillionth of a second, which is the extremely rapid rate of the laser beam delivery which essentially remodels the skin and triggers an intense collagen production response. The Discovery Pico laser is unique because it includes three wavelengths, 532 nm – 1064 nm – 694 nm, high peak power and up to four emission modes to combine maximum operating performance with the widest range of treatments. It generates a pure photo acoustic effective to shatter inks and pigmentations, leaving the surrounding tissues unharmed. This picosecond laser, thanks to its shorter pulse durations and high peak power, can effectively pulverize even the deepest skin pigment.
What to expect
First of all, expect to be blown away by your results. The Discovery Pico laser is the most powerful device on the market, which allows for effective treatment of deep ink. If you’ve ever had a tattoo removal consultation before and were told you were not a good candidate due to the colors or ink depth of your tattoo, you need to schedule an appointment with Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting. Chances are, we will be able to remove or significantly fade your tattoo.
At your consultation, we will also determine how many treatments we expect you will need in order to achieve your desired results. Treatment plans will be completely customized to your needs and schedule. Most patients only need a few treatments and experience rapid healing with minimal downtime.
The actual laser treatment happens in the comfort of our office and patients will receive a topical anesthetic to numb the area before undergoing a tattoo removal procedure. Patients describe the laser as feeling like many tiny hot dots on the skin. This discomfort is greatly reduced by a stream of cold air coming from the device directly into the treatment area. In the days and weeks following a laser treatment, the body’s natural immune response flushes away the shattered ink or unwanted pigment particles, causing the tattoo or dark spots to fade.
No matter what skin issue you are facing, Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting is here to help you achieve your goals. We offer many other technologies for skin rejuvenation that, when combined with Discovery Pico laser therapy, produce optimal results.
When you visit our office for your initial consult, your pre-existing conditions will be assessed for free via the Canfield VISIA Camera System, which provides our dermatologists with an in-depth view of your skin and the ability to foresee potential skin problems. After a thorough review of your skin issues and goals, we will work together with you to develop a customized plan to achieve your healthiest skin possible.
