HELIX Laser Skin Resurfacing: Now Offering FUSION and Sultra
The HELIX laser is an advanced skin resurfacing platform that delivers three distinct, customizable treatments. At Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting, our board-certified dermatologists, including Dr. Thomas Griffin, Jr., M.D., and Dr. Nazanin Saedi, M.D., specialize in laser and aesthetic procedures, offering patients a full range of HELIX options. We already offer the CoolPeel® and are pleased to introduce two additional treatments: FUSION and Sultra.
From a subtle refresh with minimal downtime to more dramatic resurfacing, your provider can tailor the right HELIX treatment to your goals, skin type, and schedule. Treatments can be performed on the face, eyes, neck, décolleté, hands and more.
FUSION: Blended Ablative and Non-Ablative Resurfacing
FUSION is HELIX’s signature blended treatment, combining two types of laser energy in a single session to deliver enhanced results with faster healing than traditional ablative-only resurfacing.
How FUSION Works
FUSION pairs ablative CO₂ laser energy with non-ablative 1570nm energy using proprietary blending patterns unique to the HELIX device. The CO₂ component vaporizes selective surface tissues to stimulate new collagen and tighten skin, while the 1570nm energy travels deeper below the surface for additional collagen remodeling. Your provider can target multiple depths and skin concerns in one appointment. FUSION is safe for both light and dark skin types.
What FUSION Can Address
- Skin texture and laxity
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Deep wrinkles
- Acne scars and other scarring
- Sun damage and age spots
- Crepey skin
Recovery and Results
Depending on treatment intensity, most patients experience 2 to 4 days to about one week of downtime after a FUSION session. Results are visible and typically continue to improve over time. Your provider will customize the approach to match your available recovery window and desired outcome. Individual results may vary.
Sultra: Non-Ablative Resurfacing
Sultra is HELIX’s non-ablative treatment, designed for patients who want gradual, natural-looking skin improvement with minimal downtime. Rather than removing the skin’s surface layer, Sultra works beneath it.
How Sultra Works
Sultra uses a 1570nm wavelength to deliver heat deep beneath the skin’s surface without injuring or ablating the skin. This light-based energy targets water in the tissue, stimulating collagen production that gradually firms and rejuvenates the skin over time. Because this wavelength does not affect melanin, Sultra is a safe and effective option for darker skin types.
What Sultra Can Address
- Fine lines
- Skin tone and texture
- Crepey or lax skin
- Overall skin rejuvenation and glow
Recovery and Results
Sultra requires minimal downtime, making it a great option for patients with busy schedules or those who prefer a gradual approach over a series of sessions. Results build progressively with each treatment. Individual results may vary.
